Apple have confirmed the date for the new iPhone 5 annoucement - September 12th 2012 in San Francisco.

The much anticipated next generation phone device is set to launch soon after. An October event is also planned for updates to the iPod and the much-rumoured 7 inch iPad.

CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, will take the stage at 10am PT.

The new iPhone 5 is expected to have a larger display, a faster processor and 4G connectivity. One of the most controversial expected changes is a new, smaller connector.

Along with the hardware changes, the phone will run on the new iOS 6 which was previewed at the WWDC conference in June.
