Charity Site Guestbook Spam Slam
Posted by Clare Greenway on: Tuesday 3 August 2004

Blasted Pill Pushers

Charity bosses have launched an investigation the North West Air Ambulance's charity's website was hit by Internet spammers - via the sites guestbook system. Online gambling and non-prescription drugs links have been dumped on the page.

(I am not linking directly to this site for obvious reasons)

The charity said it did not have the resources to monitor its site 24-hours a day. But what company does, let alone a charity?

Guestbooks are rarely monitored by site owners which therefore allows people to post all sorts of spam links to their sites.

Best way to remove the problem is to remove the guestbook.

These people never stop... how far can they go whit spam actions? Even on a charity site. I don't know but somebody have to take drastic measures against these kind of activities that has extended to far.

It has certainly gone out of hand, I mean those sites are meant to do some good without making any profit, and then a spammer comes along and places his add there and makes a mess of the whole thing.
