Oh Very Retro
Remember The Dot Com Guy?
"On January 1, 2000, at the dawn of the new millennium, the DotComGuy embarked upon the challenge of his life. His mission: to stay in the house for an entire year without leaving. He would enter with only a computer and the clothes on his back. He wanted to prove to the world that a man could live entirely through e-commerce. Everything would be bought online, from food to toilet paper, furniture and clothing. He would bank online, start a business online and allow the world to view it all by permitting web cameras to chronicle the process 24/7"
It was very dull, to be honest. So - we are in 2004. The site has been offline for a few years and now the whole Dot Com Guy thing is being sold for... ready for this...$100,000. Take away two zeros and you're nearer the actual worth of this property.
The Auction
Amusingly, CI Host's server (which hosted Dot Com Guy) went down at the pinnacle of media coverage on March 19. Although attempts were made to work with representatives of CI Host to jump start the media coverage again after the outage, they were uncooperative and unresponsive.
We have suffered at the hands of CI Host by having 4 months of downtime in the past, so we know exactly how they feel.
