Microsoft's New Search Engine Falls Flat
Posted by Clare Greenway on: Thursday 3 February 2005

Many Not Impressed

It's early days yet, but for some web searchers the new MSN search engine is not as good as it could be. Some report there are less quality choices and more spam results with this engine compared to its rivals. There was "nothing" extra to take people away from their existing Google and Yahoo websites many felt.

Jonathan Lapoff writes, "The only way Microsoft could ever win the search war is to integrate the technology into Longhorn and other future Windows releases. Microsoft claims its ultimate goal is to make the web easier to use and search for the common user. In that sense, they are far behind. No one even comes close to matching Google's ability to bring the most relevant, quality search results."

Good points indeed.
