Must Have Gadget Expands

Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Ken Kutaragi has revealed some nifty additions to this years must-have gadget, the Sony PSP. Firstly, he has confirmed the device could be used as a phone with a special add-on currently under development. There is also talk that the UMD format, the type of disks the PSP uses for data, will be opened up to third parties for movies and audio use (not games, however..)

He also confirmed the existence of a web browser addition although doesn't think a keyboard device is very practical at the moment.

The PSP has sold some 800,000 units since it's December launch in Japan. The device is expected to reach the shores of North America and Europe by the end of March this year. Sony hope to be producing 2 million PSP units per month by summer 2005.
