Posted by Clare Greenway on: Wednesday 2 February 2005

Great For Business

Global Internet Telephony Company Skype today announced the availability of version 1.0 of its Voice over IP (VoIP) software for Linux and MAC users.

Skype is the leading VoIP product in the world. The company has 23.9 million registered users and more than 130,000 are signing up for the "product" on a daily basis. In addition, Skype Technologies said it has 735,000 users who have signed up for its paid SkypeOut service.

While Skype-to-Skype callers currently use the service for free, SkypeOut users are charged about 2 cents per minute for the service and can make calls to public switched telephone networks around the world.

Skype products for Linux, MAC OS X, Windows and Pocket PC platforms are free of charge and can be downloaded direct from the Skype website.
